With its advanced mechanisation and close crop monitoring, the Les Trois Chênes nursery enjoys a national and international reputation for the consistency, cleanliness and quality of its young plants. Constantly seeking improvement, for the past five years we have offered specific containers designed to make potting-on easier to mechanise and to improve rooting:
The 28-cell tray (P28T), to make plants easier to handle (the tray cannot be broken apart) and to speed up mechanised potting-on. These 28-cell trays are delivered upright with the plants trimmed and ready to plant. They are also an increasingly common alternative to bare-root plants, which are awkward to handle and sometimes unpredictable in establishing.
The 12 cm pot and the 13 cm pot (pre-container) to shorten growing cycles and produce stocky, strong plants in a single season.
The air-pruning pot (ACH9 and ACH10) to ensure better rooting of avenue trees (Liriodendron, Liquidambar, Quercus, etc.) and reforestation plants (Pinus, Cedrus, Larix, etc.) and so prevent root spiralling.
Mulch limits herbicide use and reduces water consumption. It can take the form of wood chips (spruce), cocoa shells or hemp. It works in three ways: less watering, fewer weeds and better management of the growing medium.
